About Us

Nurturing Golden Hearts is an organization that began  in the heart of the late, Mrs. Marie Blackmon, who was known to feed anyone that graced her home for help. She just couldn't stand to see people hungry. Mrs. Marie had a genuine love for people in her community. She adorned the community with an infectious compassion to everyone she met. This nurturing affection  struck the heart of her daughter, Mrs. Joann Blackmon-Myles who tactfully observed the strength and love her mother shared among the neighborhood. Mrs. Joann, took on the mantle as she continued the unselfish tradition of making sure no one would go without a good meal. Mrs. Joann soon realized this need was far greater than she imagined. She dreamed to take this to a grander level. Moving forward with the tradition  set forth by Ms. Marie, she manifested a beacon of hope and influence that soon impressed upon her daughter, Mykeshia Myles, who  worked along side Mrs. Joann to conceived the beginning dreams of  Nurturing Golden Hearts. 

Beyond the unfortunate and untimely passing of Mrs. Joann, MyKeshia  shared this vision with close friends and family to structure a group of compassionate individuals. She recruited family and community friends who would provide food assistance to children and their families, from their own pockets.  We soon recognized that there is a greater need than what we could have imagined or provided without help.   

Once these needs were identified by similarities within the community, the assistance area varied from school-aged children, working families struggling to make ends meet, to even the elderly and disabled. Many individuals who have to try and balance prescription costs and daily necessities, shouldn't have to wonder how to afford to feed themselves and their family. That is what we are here for. Our organization is here to transform lives and empower communities  by ending hunger and providing 

essential needs to overcome hardship. This will instill hope and improve self-sufficiency by offering residents in need with food, essentials and programs that promote the value of nutrition. In doing so, Nurturing Golden Hearts helps to ensure that food and essential item assistance has a more meaningful, enduring impact to the total person.
